why is my printer offline?
Many a time it happens that your printer appears
offline and it is not able to connect with your PC or device you are using for
printouts. There are some recommended steps to be followed to get the printer
back online these are:
1.
Check whether the printer is
turned ON and connected correctly with Wi-Fi with your device.
2. Then
check the printer power cycle. Check all the possible knobs connected to the
power, at times the wire gets loose and the current does not pass through and
reach the printer.
3. Then you can set your printer as the
default printer.
4. After that you should delete the print queue or the print
command history from the printer memory.
5.
Reorganize the service that
administers the printing queue.
6. If
reorganization does not work then you can remove and re-add your printer to
your device.
7.
After making necessary changes
and settings you should restart your PC.
In
case these steps do not work out well to bring your printer offline to online
mode then there are some additional steps to be followed these are:
Step
1: Set the default printer manually
Check
that th4e default printer driver matches the printer that you are trying to set
with the device. It’s compatibility with the windows version that your device
has and if it needs an update then go for it.
Step
2: Carefully check the printer port and Windows services position
In
case your printer uses WSD PORT then check its status and add TCP/IP Port if
required.
Look
for the control panel settings to view devices and printers connected and the
compatibility.
Then
right-click your printer, choose Printer Properties, and then click
the Ports tab.
Ensure
that your printer uses a WSD port. In case your printer does not use a WSD
port, then you can skip to the next step
Step
3: Generate a manual IP connection (network connections only)
Make
use of the printer IP address to physically connect to your printer. It is
required if your printer is connected to router. Then you can print the network
configuration page.
In
case your printer has a control panel with a menu display then it will print a
Network Configuration Page from the network settings or network setup menu.
In
case your printer does not have a menu display, then it will print the Network
Configuration Page with the help of printer control panel buttons.
At
the Network Configuration Page, you will get the network status for the
required network connection type whether it is wired or wireless.
Once
the status shows as connected then continues with the required steps
You
may be required to find the find the IP Address, Subnet mask,
and Default Gateway for your network connection type if this step
does not work well. You can open internet browser then type one of the URLs in
the address field and click enter to open the printer EWS. In case it does not
display then try with different browser.
Now you can return to the window of devices
and printers and press F5 key. Further click at the printer’s name to know the
printer status.
In
case you see online status then your printer is no longer offline or printeroffline
Hence
the issue is resolved.
